MUN@UWCSEA 2022
STUDENT OFFICERS
International Court of Justice (ICJ)
Roberto Borsetti President Hello! I am Roberto Borsetti, a Grade 12 student at UWCSEA East. This year, I have the honour of being the ICJ President for MUN@UWC 2022. Through my four years of MUN, I have gained valuable experience in the courts, a committee like no other. This committee is a unique opportunity for delegates to expand their MUN skillset. Whether as an advocate, where you have to articulate your arguments and provide well-researched evidence or as a judge, delivering your critique and questioning for the overall case, all delegates become better versed within the court environment, incentivising the shared goal of a greater future. I wish you all the best with your preparations and look forward to meeting you all this October in person! |
Amairah Islam VICE PRESIDENT Hi everyone! I’m Amairah, a G11 student at UWC East. I’ve been doing MUN since the early days of Middle School, growing and learning to be a better delegate throughout the 16 conferences I’ve participated in. I hope you all will do the same because that is what this is - a learning experience. I’m super excited to be chairing ICJ at this amazing conference. I hope everyone has a lot of fun debating and discussing the controversial topics of their committee! |
International Criminal Court (ICC)
Sean Lai
President
Hi, I’m Sean Lai, a Grade 12 student at Singapore Ameircan School. I find MUN the perfect environment to grasp world issues at hand and see how we can better achieve comprimise , make progress, and find solutions to pressing issues. Compromise is inevitably what makes MUN as we dont have the luxury of researching everything, and it forces us to emphatize and see the issue holistically. For our case this is exactly what I think the judges need, as they must attempt to look at the facts provided, and make a decision based on what seems more objectively true, did Jean-Pierre Bemba commit heinous acts or not. I’ve loved the court environment that ICC and ICJ provide as I have been able to see advocates grow and also witness humorous witness testifying in the courts of MUN. I wish the advocates the best of luck in their preparations for this case.
