MUN@UWCSEA 2023
Dear delegates, directors, teachers, and guests,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to UWCSEA East and to our tenth annual MUN@UWCSEA East conference.
This year is a special one at UWCSEA East, as it is our decennial MUN conference, and we are delighted to have such talented schools from both near and far here to help us celebrate. Anniversaries are important opportunities to reignite our enthusiasm for our causes, and reflect on how participating in MUN continues to shape us for the better. Whether this is your first conference or one of many, I sincerely hope you all enjoy this weekend as you make new connections, revive old ones, listen, speak, think, and contribute with passion and energy.
My sincere thanks to directors Mr Tim Pettine and Mr Shaun Ryley for their support, Mr Gavin Dinsdale in our Activities Department, the AV team, and Facilities and Catering departments for helping to make this event happen. An extra special thanks goes to our devoted, knowledgeable, and highly experienced UWCSEA East MUN Executive Leadership team, all of whom have worked exceptionally hard to prepare an experience that we hope will be rewarding for you all. I wish to thank all the faculty of our visiting schools for their collaboration and support, without which we would have no conference. I would also like to thank Mr Qamaruzzaman Amir for taking time from his exceptionally busy schedule to deliver the inspiring keynote address today.
Most of all, I thank the delegates. You represent the United Nations as it should be -- young people from all corners coming together to find solutions to salient issues through constructive debate and exchange of ideas. Thank you for caring enough about global issues to dedicate your time and energy to MUN. May this weekend reinvigorate your passion for making our world a better, more sustainable, more equitable place.
My best wishes to you all for a memorable and fruitful conference.
Sincerely,
Christine Lund
